Members of Liberty Oak Chorus performed for crowds at the American Cancer Society fundraiser:
Freehold's Re-Lei For A Cure today at Freehold Raceway Track, Freehold, NJ

"The Relay For Life movement is American Cancer Society’s signature fundraiser dedicated to helping communities attack cancer. From team members to volunteers, we all want to remember those we’ve lost, help those affected today, and give us a home team advantage against cancer. Through funds donated, time given, or awareness raised, our communities are teaming up to make a difference. When we rally together in the fight against cancer through this fun and inspirational event, we can accomplish anything."

Alexa auditioned for and subsequently attended Howell’s High School Fine Performing Arts Center as an acting major, Westminster Choir College’s Solo Vocal Artist program, Rutgers Musical Theatre Academy, Papermill Playhouse’s Summer Conservatoy and even the prestigious Juilliard Pre-College Vocal Program.

Performing has given Alexa her purpose and philosophy in life. She states, “Performing for me isn’t about being a star or getting rich.  It’s a way to show the most vulnerable parts of yourself to an audience that tries to hide those same parts of themselves everyday.”

She will be pursuing a degree in Performance and Music Education at Ithaca College this fall.

We congratulate this very talented young woman.

Liberty Oak Chorus has lost a treasured member and dear friend this week.

Jean began singing with Sweet Adelines in 1977.  Before joining Liberty Oak Chorus, she was a member of Watchung View Chorus and Millstone Valley Chorus.  Jean, who had sung in several quartets, was most recognized as singing Tenor with Impulse Quartet for the last ten years.

Jean was not only a fantastic asset to our Tenor section, but also held the position of Assistant Director and was a valued member of the Music Team. She worked tirelessly each year on her lottery ticket fund raising event, which was a great asset for our chorus and always helped out wherever she was needed.

Liberty Oak Chorus presents our Woman of Note to Jeanine Perruso Brown.  Jeanine started singing as a child on the top step of her back porch with the neighborhood kids shining their flashlights from the bottom step as her spotlight, and she has been singing her heart out ever since!  In high school, she sang in choruses and studied voice. After high school, her friendly and outgoing personality led to her success working in the travel industry. She currently is a Customer Sales Representative/Corporate Travel Agent for a company in Princeton.  Jeanine is married to Lyb Brown and has a large extended family that she loves very much.
